This product is springless. The slide is designed to have a little give. Brass is a softer metal so we have to adjust tolerance to avoid scoring on the finish from the friction.

Poorly executed. The internal component is extremely loose and makes the repair tool practically unusable. There should have been a spring added or at least more precise milling of the components to avoid this. For the price paid, I am extremely disappointed in the product I received.
Sorry to hear this Aaron. We made a deliberate call on how we built the tool. We went springless as adding a spring opened us up to more points of failure. We wanted to keep it simple and built to last.
The tradeoff is a looser slide than a spring-loaded tool. That's partly by design. Brass is a soft metal, and if the tolerance is too tight, you get scoring on the finish from the friction. We'd rather have smooth and slightly loose than seized up or scratched.
We've already adjusted the milled notch on the closed position to hold better, and we're working on future versions that'll allow tighter tolerances across the board ; harder metal, crisper action, same clean design.
